Who am I?
I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years’ experience working with children, adults, and families across health, social care, and community settings. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and chartered by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Before beginning my career in the UK National Health Service, I developed an interest in working with adults with intellectual disabilities through volunteering. This early experience shaped my values and my clinical direction, grounding my work in compassion, curiosity, and a strong commitment to person-centred practice that recognises people in the context of their relationships, histories, and environments. This interest led me through university training and into qualification and practice as a Clinical Psychologist.
Much of my professional career has been spent working in specialist NHS services for adults with intellectual disabilities. During this time, I gained extensive experience in psychological assessment, therapeutic intervention, group work, consultation to staff teams, and person-centred planning. My work has involved careful adaptation of evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioural, behavioural, and systemic models, alongside specialist work relating to risk, mental capacity, cognitive assessments, sexuality, parenting, and safeguarding.
Alongside NHS work, I have worked in private practice in the UK and overseas, including with Caribbean and expatriate clients from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and experiences. I work with people who are navigating neurodivergence, relationship difficulties, anxiety, parenting challenges, and questions of identity. I have a particular interest in trauma-informed and attachment-focused practice, and offering post-diagnostic support to children, adults, and families. I am trained in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP-informed) and am an EMDR practitioner in training.
I’m interested in how emotions can be held in the body, and in somatic approaches to wellbeing that do not rely solely on top-down thinking. This sits alongside my use of writing as a therapeutic tool.
My approach is collaborative and creative, with an emphasis on helping people make sense of their experiences in ways that aim to feel respectful and empowering. Across all settings, my work is guided by a belief in people’s capacity for growth when they are supported in nurturing environments that meet them where they are.
Do get in touch if you would like to discuss whether working together might feel like a good fit.
